Conner elected Jefferson County Auditor, Richmond re-elected as sheriff

FAIRFIELD – Jefferson County had a number of uncontested races on Election Day, Nov. 5, where the winners could rest easily knowing they didn’t have a challenger.

Jefferson County will have a new auditor next year with the election of Republican Christy Conner, who received 6,316 votes (99 percent) in her uncontested race to replace Scott Reneker. Jefferson County Sheriff Bart Richmond, a Republican, was re-elected with 5,432 votes (95 percent), while “write-ins” received 302 votes. This will be Richmond’s second four-year term as sheriff.

Of the 8,436 ballots cast in the county, 2,049 did not make a selection in the auditor’s race, and 2,702 did not participate in the sheriff’s race. Roughly 74 percent of the 11,383 registered voters in the county cast a ballot in the Nov. 5 election.
