Construction crews to but the brakes on street work during Threshers
The brakes will be put on road construction in Mt. Pleasant Monday evening, Aug. 27, in preparation for the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.

The brakes will be put on road construction in Mt. Pleasant Monday evening, Aug. 27, in preparation for the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.
Warner Engineering also announced the first pour on the south lanes of Washington Street is planned for Sept. 7, weather permitting. Pouring will begin from the east side of Marion Street to the alley east of Jefferson Street.
Prior to Aug. 27, Kinney and Sons will be removing concrete, grading and placing the granular sub-base on the south two lanes of Washington Street. They will be re-rocking the Adams and Harrison street intersections after they cross them.
Temporary sidewalks also will be placed on both sides of the Jefferson, Main and Adams streets intersections with Washington Street. The temporary north and south crossings will be marked with fencing and are the routes the public should use for access to cross Washington Street.
All intersections, with the exception of the Van Buren south from Washington Street, will be open to traffic.
Barton Construction will be pouring concrete on the alley west of the Dairy Queen and east of Mt. Pleasant News next week.
Crews are painting parking stripes along the south side of the square today. The Marion and Washington Streets intersection will be open to traffic by the end of the work day today.
Ambulance and all emergency vehicles can use whatever route they prefer from Aug. 28-Sept. 4. There will be no construction delays during this period.
Shipley Construction, the general contractor on the Washington Street project, will resume work Sept. 4. They will be trimming and placing steel starting on the east side of the Marion and Washington streets intersection and proceeding eastward.
During this time, there will be flaggers and alternative traffic on the north side of Washington Street. The White Street intersection will be left open until pouring reaches that point.
