Continental ContiTech announces expansion

Continental ContiTech, an industrial hose plant in Mt. Pleasant, has just announced a $7.2 million expansion.

?We have plans to add 30,000 square feet to our plant, and that includes an additional production line, which will increase our total floor area and our capacity by 20 percent,? plant manager Rick Anderson said in a press release.

According to a press release, the expansion is in response to the increasing demand for industrial hoses in the NAFTA region.

?This announcement is exciting news, not only because of the expansion, but because they are a quality employer and they will be providing new jobs,? said Travis Kraus, Executive Vice President of the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance. ?We are incredibly fortunate that we have a very growth-oriented company in Continental ContiTech that will bring good jobs to Mt. Pleasant and continue investing in the community.?

Kraus said there is a general sense of prospective growth in several companies within the community. ?That could mean both physical expansion and job growth opportunities.?

?This is great news for Mt. Pleasant and Henry County, seeing these types of projects going forward,? he added.

The plant was purchased in 1977 and currently employs more than 200 workers. Anderson said that construction work will begin in the late first quarter of 2016 and be completed by the end of the year.

The facility primarily manufactures industrial hoses as well as hoses for the transportation industry.
