Corn and soy prices fall below 2022 benchmarks
Hay and alfalfa fare slightly better in Hawkeye State

DES MOINES — The average price received by farmers for corn during April 2023 in Iowa was $6.75 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service’s Agricultural Prices report. This was 5 cents above the March price but 37 cents below April 2022.
The April 2023 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $14.80 per bushel, was 10 cents below the March price and 60 cents below the April 2022 price.
All hay prices in Iowa averaged $179.00 per ton in April. This was $4.00 below the March price but $14.00 above the April 2022 price. The April 2023 alfalfa hay price, at $183.00, was $6.00 below the previous month but $12.00 above April 2022. The average price received for other hay during April was $168.00 per ton. This was $6.00 above the March price and $22.00 above April last year.
The average price for milk was $19.30 per cwt, 90 cents below the March price and $7.80 below April 2022.
