Council approves GPS system for Forest Home Cemetery
Sep. 27, 2019 1:00 am
MT. PLEASANT - The Mt. Pleasant Historic Preservation Commission was granted permission from the Mt. Pleasant City Council to move forward with the purchase of upgrading to a GPS system for the Forest Home Cemetery.
At the council meeting Tuesday, council member Jeff Batty said the commission regularly restores stones at the cemetery. Due to their age, they have trouble tracking them as they are hard to read.
With this new GPS system, commissioners will be able to track graves to find ones of most significance. The service will be helpful for those involved in genealogy research and find a grave services, he said.
Mayor Steve Brimhall said the commission will be responsible for the $7,163 system that will be under contract for three years.
