Council moves forward with bonding new well
The council sets public hearing date for Aug. 11

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant City Council approved a resolution to set a public hearing date on Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in regards to the bonding for a $3 million dollar water well project on Cedar Lane.
They approved the public hearing, which will be held to take public comment on a proposal on the issuance of general obligation bonds not to exceed $3 million and a loan repayment agreement with the Municipal Utilities.
They also approved the hiring of Ahlers Cooney law firm to provide legal counsel for the selling and ongoing disclosure compliance associated with the selling of general obligation bonds for the well project.
The council addressed multiple other issues in its regular meeting Wednesday evening.
Golf Cart Use
The council approved an amendment to the ordinance involving golf carts and off-road vehicles operating in city jurisdiction.
The council specified that the sticker has to go in the middle of the orange triangle on the vehicle and specified that those types of vehicles can operate on any city road excluding Washington Street and Grand Avenue between the Washington Street and Winfield avenue intersections, except to cross.
Saunders Park
The council approved the engineering results from Warner Engineering for the improvement of Saunders Park.
They also contracted Wesley Barton Construction for the installation of sidewalk and sign footings at the new Saunders park plaza. The bid was for $10,703 dollars.
