WINFIELD ? City of Winfield officials will be starting nuisance procedures again regarding a residence at 108 N. Olive St.
The council has been working with Richard Hughes, owner of the house, for nearly a year on repairing the home. Hughes had two porches removed, but the council also asked him to repair the roof and tuckpoint around a turret.
Hughes was given a May 9 deadline to have the repairs completed. However, during the council?s regular meeting Wednesday night, it was noted that the repairs have not been made. Consequently, the city will send Hughes a letter, notifying him of the city?s intent to proceed with the nuisance abatement process.
Other agenda items had the council passing a resolution, setting deputy city clerk Molly Buffington?s salary at $12.75 per hour.
The council accepted two quotes from L.L. Pelling for street repair. Pelling will asphalt two blocks of a city street for $60,000 and also will be applying sealcoat to various streets in the community at a price of $17,150.
Tax abatement was approved for Jerry Fricke, who completely remodeled a home and added a garage. The abatement will be for five years based on the value of the improvements.
Due to a conflict, the council changed its regular meeting schedule. The council, beginning in June, will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., in the months April though October, and at 5 p.m., November through March. Formerly, the council met on the second Monday of each month.
The next regular council meeting will be Wednesday, June 8, at 7 p.m.
