Henry County secondary road workers spent a good share of last week on the 150th Street shoulder pull and the New London Road (county road X23) shoulder rebuild projects, according to Henry County Engineer Jake Hotchkiss.
He said the shoulder cutting work is completed on 150th Street and now crews are working on resurfacing the road.
Work on X23 also has been finished, the county engineer said, and the shoulder has been seeded.
One project that has been on the agenda for quite some time is culverts on 140th Street and Hickory Avenue. Hotchkiss said that workers were to have started this week but have delayed the start to next week.
?They will start with Hickory and are looking at bringing in two crews to build both culverts at the same time,? Hotchkiss explained. ?Work on Hickory will begin first and when the second crew becomes available, work on 140th Street will commence.?
The Ash Avenue bridge replacement project is progressing toward completion very soon. The replacement-grading subcontractor is working on the approaches and plans to finish the grading over the next two weeks, he stated.
Hotchkiss said work on the Ash Avenue project will extend into harvest season. ?It will be more of a nuisance than an impact on harvesting,? the engineer said.
Other than work on 150th Street and the New London road last week, county employees repaired some suck holes on Oakland Mills Road and installed entrances in Wayne Township.
Mowing was also on the agenda. ?Everything north of Mt. Pleasant is mowed for the winter,? Hotchkiss commented. ?We are now mowing south of Mt. Pleasant and should be completed soon.?
County supervisors will meet again Thursday at 9 a.m., in the Henry County Courthouse.
