County nomination papers now available
March deadline to file for six county positions, on ballot in June

WASHINGTON — Nomination papers are now available at the Washington County Auditor’s Office for various county positions which will be on the ballot for the June 4, 2024 Primary Election. Three seats on the Washington County Board of Supervisors, as well as the offices of County Attorney, County Auditor and County Sheriff will be on the ballot. The three open seats on the Board of Supervisors consist of Districts #1, #2 and #4, and the current officeholders are Jack Seward Jr., Robert Yoder, and Stan Stoops, Supervisors; Nathan Rep, Attorney; Daniel L. Widmer, Auditor; and Jared Schneider, Sheriff.
Only voters living in the supervisor candidate’s respective district are allowed to sign their nomination papers. The offices of County Attorney, County Auditor and County Sheriff however, are elected at-large. All terms are four years.
Nomination papers and accompanying information, as well as a county map outlining the supervisor districts, are available at the County Auditor’s Office at the Courthouse in Washington or may be downloaded by using the links at co.washington.ia.us. Nomination papers and an accompanying affidavit of candidacy may be filed with the Washington County Auditor beginning March 4, 2024. The deadline is 5 p.m. on March 22.
