Henry County now has three access points to the Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), according to the IWD.
In addition to the Fellowship Cup, Southeastern Community College in Mt. Pleasant and the Salem Crew Public Library are access points. The Fellowship Cup has two desktops (computer workstations), Southeastern Community College has six desktops and the Salem Library one.
In addition, the New London Library has two desktops.
There is also one desktop at the Iowa Department of Corrections facility in Mt. Pleasant but it is not for public use.
IWD said it is rapidly deploying access points across the state to bring workforce services closer to Iowans.
?The access point system provides Iowans with the opportunity to utilize workforce services in a convenient location close to home,? remarked IWD Director Teresa Wahlert. ?With over 135 access points, 16 regional centers and three satellite offices, we have more than doubled our access for Iowans and we will continue adding locations throughout the year.?
Individuals can connect with a workforce professional by calling (866) 239-0843 or live chat at an access point. The access (to a professional) is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. IWD staff members will continue to be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday within the regional centers and satellite office. IWD?s regional office closest to Mt. Pleasant is Burlington.
Iowans can complete unemployment claims and search job listings at access points.
Iowa?s redefined workforce will have greater availability to the public with evening and weekend hours, something not available in the current delivery model, Wahlert said. Additionally, IWD will continue to enhance technology-based services throughout the new system for the benefit of all clients.
