County officers investigate pair of one-vehicle accidents
Officers from the Henry County Sheriff?s Department investigated a pair of accidents last weekend.
The office received a report of a car-deer accident on Oct. 31, on Oakland Mills Road. An investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, owned by Smith Plumbing and operated by Doug Smith, of Mt. Pleasant, was northbound on Oakland Mills Road when it struck and killed a deer that entered the roadway.

Officers from the Henry County Sheriff?s Department investigated a pair of accidents last weekend.
The office received a report of a car-deer accident on Oct. 31, on Oakland Mills Road. An investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, owned by Smith Plumbing and operated by Doug Smith, of Mt. Pleasant, was northbound on Oakland Mills Road when it struck and killed a deer that entered the roadway.
Damage to the pickup was estimated at $500.
A one-vehicle accident in the 1800 grid of Franklin Avenue was investigated on Oct. 30. According to the accident report, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, operated by Stephen Regan, no address listed, was northbound on Franklin when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, entered the east ditch, before striking the ditch at the intersection of 195th Street and Franklin.
The vehicle struck the stop sign at the intersection and continued before striking a utility pole. The vehicle was a total loss, and Regan was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
