It was another short meeting for the Henry County Board of Supervisors yesterday with talk about a draft of the 2014 fiscal year audit financial statement, and an update from Jake Hotchkiss, county engineer.
Hotchkiss was the first to present with a review of last week?s road maintenance activities and a few miscellaneous items coming up for the engineer?s office.
?Maintenance crews will be working on quarry stripping this week and will continue working on brush cutting projects throughout the county with the cold temperatures dictating a lot of what we do at the moment,? Hotchkiss said. ?The engineer?s office is continuing to work on projects for the upcoming summer. We are also preparing construction inspections on our county bridge and paving projects.?
Brush cutting and laying spot rock on roads across the county have been ongoing projects for Hotchkiss and his team and major progress has been made in that regard, according to Hotchkiss.
Hotchkiss finished his report by announcing to the board that he, along with another employee of the engineer?s office, recently returned from a traffic control workshop that took place in Ottumwa.
In other board news, the Henry County Supervisors took time to review a draft submission of the 2014 fiscal year audit financial statement to the state of Iowa. Overall, there were no major points of concern and the board moved to approve the audit financial statement for submission.
The next Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 9 a.m., inside the Henry County Courthouse.
