The Jefferson County Wellness Action Coalition has re-established its identity as a sustainable organization focused on community wellness with a new name and a new logo unveiled during a kickoff event Tuesday evening in the conference room of the Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store.
The organization has become The Jefferson County Wellness Coalition, and its branding logo is ?Let?s Go JeffCo: It?s never too late to feel great!?
Executive director Ken Daley explained with a strategic plan in place and new programs beginning, he is very excited and anxious to hear from people interested in participating.
One of the new programs is the health and wellness ambassadors. Daley said the ambassadors will be volunteer fitness instructors, coaches, role models and mentors.
The coalition also is planning to have an appropriations committee made up of about 12 volunteers. Plans are for the committee to meet quarterly to discuss how to allocate grant funds and how to implement ideas.
Daley said any enthusiastic, creative person interested in improving health and wellness in the county is welcome to volunteer as an ambassador or an appropriations committee member.
Daley can be contacted by calling 209-9893 or emailing kdaley@mum.edu for information about the Jefferson County Wellness Coalition and its volunteer opportunities.
Along with the new name and branding also comes a new website, www.letsgojeffco.com, which is under construction now, but once finished will be a portal to other outlets focused on improving health.
Daley said residents also should be aware of plans for a Memorial Day weekend event featuring the trail system.
?People who are trying to find something to do, this is going to be a great event,? he said.
