The Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to send the zoning ordinance to a third reading at its regular meeting Tuesday morning. The supervisors did not discuss the ordinance before voting to send it to a third reading. The third and possibly final reading of the ordinance will be held at the Supervisors? next meeting on March 2 at 9:30 a.m.
After the meeting, Supervisor Steve Davis spoke about his current feelings on the ordinance.
?I?ve talked with the other supervisors but I haven?t made a decision either way,? said Davis. ?A lot of the people in my area down south are against it. Lately, I?ve heard more people come out in favor of it.?
Davis said he notices slight differences in support for zoning from one end of the county to the other.
?I would say that from Coppock to north of Ainsworth the majority are opposed,? he said. ?If you get up farther north there are a lot of yeses.?
Davis remarked that he has to keep in mind the interests of citizens outside his district.
?I look at public opinion countywide and not just in my own district. I want to take care of the people in my district, and then I?m going to look at the overall impact. It?s going to be a tough decision. I?ll know before that day which way I?m going to vote,? said Davis.
