Associate District Court
Roy Daniel Lahvic III, 30, of Ottumwa pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while license barred ? habitual offender, aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, which was suspended. He was placed on two years probation, fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
Regeno Daniel Collado Jr., 32, of Las Vegas, was found guilty of domestic abuse assault, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, all but two days were suspended. He was given two years probation, ordered to pay for and participate in a Batterers Education Program. He was fined $315 plus a 35 percent surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge, and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. He also was ordered to respect a five-year no contact order.
Clifford Eugene Williams, 36, of Ottumwa, was found guilty of public intoxication, second offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, all but two days were suspended. He was fined $315 plus a 35 percent surcharge, and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
Laura Lee Fischer, 47, of 2193 Westhills Drive, pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. She was sentenced to two days in jail, less credit for time served. Jail time may be satisfied by completion of a court-ordered OWI program. Her license was revoked. She was ordered to successfully complete a drinking drivers course, fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge, $10 DARE surcharge and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
Jerry Albert Vorhies, 60, of 106 W. Fillmore Ave., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, all but seven days were suspended with work release. He was given two years probation and his driver?s license was revoked 180 days. He was ordered to successfully complete a course for drinking drivers, fined $1,875 plus a 35 percent surcharge, ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
Eric Shane Essary, 40, of 901 W. Grimes Ave., pleaded guilty to domestic abuse assault, a simple misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two days in jail less credit for time served at time of arrest. He was order to pay for and participate in a Batters Education Program, fined $65 plus a 35 percent surcharge, and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
District Court
Brent Leroy Maudlin, 27, of 410 ½ N. Main St., pleaded guilty to delivery/possession with intent to deliver marijuana. He was sentenced to five years in prison, fined $750 plus a 35 percent surcharge. His sentence was suspended and he must comply with evaluations and treatment; abstain from all controlled substances, pay restitution, submit to toxicology tests and pay for testing. He was ordered to pay pecuniary damages, court costs, court appointed attorney fees if any and a minimum of $618. His driver?s license was revoked for 180 days. He must submit a physical specimen for the DNA database.
Michael Harris Vantage, 34, of 910 S. Third St., pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon. He was sentenced to five years in prison, fined $750 plus a 35 percent surcharge. His sentence was suspended. He was placed on five years probation, ordered to pay pecuniary damages, fines, penalties, a surcharge, court costs and court appointed attorney fee if any. He must submit a physical specimen for the DNA database.
Brian Craig Small, 54, of Batavia was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 10 years of prison, fined $1,000 plus a 35 percent surcharge. His sentence was suspended and he was placed on five years probation. He was ordered to comply with evaluations and treatments recommended by the department of corrections. He was ordered to abstain from controlled substances, actively seek and maintain employment, pay restitution, submit to toxicology testing at the request of the department of corrections and pay all costs associated with education.
Magistrate Court
Joseph Michael Siemens, 22, of Keosauqua, pleaded guilty for driving while suspended, denied, canceled or revoked. He was fined $65 plus a 35 percent surcharge. He was fined $187.
Kenneth Arthur C. Franklin, 22 of Swedesburg, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of disorderly conduct. He was fined $207.
Jessica Frueh, 22, of Ottumwa pleaded guilty to an amended charge of simple assault. She was fined $195 and was sentenced to one day in jail, which was suspended.
Albert Wayne Shondel, 65, of 506 S. Third St., pleaded guilty to public nuisance ? failure to abate a nuisance. He was fined $147.
Deb Jaquez, 56, of 806 North B Street, pleaded guilty to failure to register dog with city for a dog license. She was fined $127.
Dustin Lane Canaday, 36, of Keosauqua, was found guilty after trial of domestic abuse assault, simple. He was fined $147, sentenced to three days in jail, one day was suspended and he was given credit for time served.
Brock Wiereck of Pleasant Plain, pleaded guilty to two counts of keeping dangerous dogs and having a dog at large, He was fined $50.
Jeremy Wayne Kaska, 33 of Brighton, pleaded guilty to an amended judgment, domestic assault, simple. He was fined $255 plus a 35 percent surcharge and must abide by a no contact order.
Green Carpet Lawn, owned by Kevin Bruce Heston Jr., 24, of 208 E. Buchanan Ave., was issued four citations from the city of Fairfield for parking more than seven days in a municipal parking lot. The four citations were consolidated. Heston?s business was using a municipal parking lot as a basic storage area. Occasionally vehicles would be moved for one to two days, and then parked back in the same place. The city proved beyond reasonable doubt Green Carpet Lawn was guilty about two of the four vehicles and was fined $255.
William Thomas Slack, 18, of 507 E. Lowe Ave., pleaded guilty to driving under suspension. He was fined $397.
