Lance Whitney Smith, 27, of 2339 229th St., pleaded guilty to assault on a peace officer, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in jail, less credit for time served; this sentence is to run consecutive with another case sentence. His sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years probation, fined $315 plus a 35 percent surcharge. He was ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. He was ordered to get fingerprinted if none are already on file.
Lance Whitney Smith, 27, of 2339 229th St., pleaded guilty in Count I to third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two years in prison, less credit for time served. The sentence is to run concurrent with Count III of this case and another Jefferson County case. His sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years probation. He was fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge. He was ordered to pay court costs, court appointed attorney fees if any and restitution. In Count III, Smith was guilty of assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in the Jefferson County Jail, less credit for time served. His sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years probation. He was fined $315 plus a 35 percent surcharge and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. Count II in this case was dismissed per a plea agreement.
Austin Wayne Countryman, 20, of Hillsboro, was guilty in Count I of eluding or attempting to alude a law enforcement vehicle. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, less credit for time served. His sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years probation. He was fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge. He was ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. In Count II, Countryman was guilty of operating while intoxicated, first offense, and sentenced to 90 days in jail, less credit for time served, to run concurrent with his sentence in Count I. All but two days in jail were suspended and he was placed on two years probation with work release. His license was revoked. He was ordered to successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. He was fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge. He was ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. He was ordered to get fingerprinted if none are already on file. Three other cases were dismissed with costs to the defendant.
Daniel Dale Cline, 39, of 501 S. 15th St., pleaded guilty in Count I to operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, less credit for time served; all but seven days were suspended. He was ordered not to sell, purchase or register any motor vehicle during the driver?s license revocation. His driver?s license was revoked for six years. If he becomes eligible for a temporary, restricted license before then and seeks one, the defendant shall install an approved ignition interlock device on all vehicles owned. He must successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. He was fined $1,875 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge. He must pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. Another Jefferson County case and Count II were dismissed with costs to the defendant.

All but two days of his sentence were suspended. He was placed on two years probation and his license was revoked. He must successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. He was fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge. He was ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. Another Jefferson County case and Count II were dismissed with costs to the defendant.
Patricia Ann Buffington, 45, of 908 North 10th St., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail, less credit for time served. All but two days of her sentence was suspended. She was placed on two years probation, her license was revoked, she was ordered to successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. She was fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge. She was ordered to pay court appointed attorney fees and court costs. Another Jefferson County case (a probation violation) was dismissed with costs to the defendant per a plea agreement. She was ordered to be fingerprinted if no fingerprints are on file.
Shad Lauren Heckart, 42, of Ottumwa, received a court contempt order for violating probation. He was ordered to 30 days in jail and to pay court costs. His probation will continue.
Angelo Alexander Grasso, 30, of Farmington, pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, less credit for time served. All but seven days were suspended. He was placed on two years probation. His license was revoked and he was ordered not to sell, purchase or register any motor vehicle for 180 days. He must successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. He was fined $1,875 plus a 35 percent surcharge and a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge. He was ordered to pay restitution, court costs and court appointed attorney fees if any. Two more Jefferson County cases were dismissed with costs to the defendant per a plea agreement. He was ordered to be fingerprinted if no fingerprints are on file.
Michael Brandon Danaher, 24, of 51 E. Broadway Ave., pleaded guilty to fourth-degree theft and received a deferred judgment and was placed on two years probation. He was fined $315 plus a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and ordered to pay restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. He was ordered to be fingerprinted if no fingerprints are on file.
Cody William Carpenter, 22, of 105 Wilson Blvd., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 48 days in jail, less credit for time served. He was granted work release. His license was revoked. He was ordered to successfully complete a drinking driver?s course and have a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days. He was fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge and ordered to pay a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge, restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
