The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors today unanimously rejected a request to include the courthouse in a public art plan to stick 3-foot wide by 18-inch tall kiss prints on downtown buildings in September.
?I just don?t see the courthouse being a billboard for any purpose,? said supervisor Dick Reed.
Supervisor Lee Dimmitt echoed Reed?s concern.
?There?s a certain amount of dignity associated with a public building,? said Dimmitt. ?Even in the name of art, those lips might mean something else to another person.?
Dimmitt also was concerned with the adhesive used to affix the plastic print to the stone surface of the courthouse.
?If the prints are up for a few weeks, it?s hard to say there wouldn?t be some kind of damage when they come off,? he added.
