Dustin Clair Roach, 24, of Canton, Mo., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was given a deferred judgment with two years? probation; ordered to get a substance abuse evaluation, pay a $1,250 fine, court costs and restitution.
William Heath Nevins, 20, of 804½ W. Burlington Ave., pleaded guilty to assault on persons engaged in a certain occupation, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, which was suspended. He was given one year?s probation, ordered to pay a $315 fine, a 35 percent surcharge, restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
Spencer Cole Wiseman, 19, of Ottumwa, pleaded guilty and was given a deferred judgment for operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was placed on two years? probation, ordered to obtain a substance abuse evaluation, restitution, court appointed attorney fees, and court costs. Wiseman also pleaded guilty and was given a deferred judgment for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. Dallas DeWayne Taylor, 35, of Burlington, pleaded guilty and received a deferred judgment for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. He was given two year?s probation, fined $315 and ordered to pay a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, court appointed attorney fees, restitution and court costs.
Carl Joseph Steen, 26 of Batavia, pleaded guilty and received a deferred judgment for third degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. Scotty Lee Carlberg, 26 of Ottumwa, pleaded guilty of fifth degree theft, a simple misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, which was suspended. Eric Shane Essary, 39, of 505 W. Washington, Apt. B, pleaded guilty to public intoxication, third or subsequent offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two years in prison; the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence imposed by Wapello County. His prison term was suspended and he was given two years probation, ordered to obtain a substance abuse evaluation, fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge, and ordered to pay court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.

Shawn Robert Schillerstrom, 42 of Brighton, pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail; all but two days were suspended. He was placed on two years of probation, ordered to complete a drinking driver?s course and his driver?s license was revoked. He was ordered to pay a $1,250 fine plus a 35 percent surcharge, a $10 D.A.R.E. surcharge, restitution and court costs.
Justin Hugh Stein, 27 of 302 E. Pierce, No. 3, pleaded guilty to third degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor. He was ordered to pay a $65 fine, a 35 percent surcharge, restitution, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs. He also was ordered to comply with a no contact order.
Robert Hugh Lacoco, 41 of Des Moines, pleaded guilty to public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, which was suspended. He was given one year of probation and ordered to pay a $65 fine, court appointed attorney fees if any and court costs.
DISTRICT COURT
Zachary Dean Delaney, 25 of 613 W. Adams Ave., pleaded guilty to third degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, parole for the remainder of his life, and fined $1,000. His prison term and fine were suspended. He was placed on five years probation, ordered to pay court costs, correctional fees, court appointed attorney fees, a $1,800 fine, submit a DNA sample, register on the sex-offender registry, pay a civil penalty of $250 and observe a no contact order.
Joshua Michael Carpenter, 28 of Wayland, pleaded guilty to third degree criinal mischief and was sentenced to two years in prison, fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge. His Jefferson County sentence was imposed to run concurrent to a Henry County sentence. His fine and surcharge were suspended. He was ordered to pay $703.77 restitution to victims, court costs and court appointed attorney fees if any.
In another count, Joshua Michael Carpenter pleaded guilty to third degree burglary and was sentenced to five years in prison to be served concurrent with the above prison sentence, fined $750 plus a 35 percent surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. He was ordered to pay $1,025 restitution to the victim, court costs, court appointed attorney fees if any and submit a DNA sample for a profile.
MAGISTRATE COURT
Richard Pohren of Brighton pleaded guilty to keeping an unlicensed dog in Pleasant Plain. He was fined $50 and ordered to pay $127.50 restitution, which were defered for 12 months; he is required to control the dog to stay on owner?s property.
Edwin Ralph Cole Blackburn of 106 W. Grimes Ave., Apt. 3, pleaded guilty to simple trespass. He was fined $100 plus a 35 percent surcharge.
Steven Mark Pilkington Sr., 52 of 205 N. Fifth St., pleaded guilty to illegal burning in Fairfield. He was fined $125.
Ariel Hannah Tess Sewall, 22 of 501 W. Stone Ave., Apt 1, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting violation of a no contact order, a simple misdemeanor. She was sentenced to three days in jail, which were suspended. She was given six months probation.
Diana Jean Haynes, 42 of 606 W. Jackson Ave., pleaded guilty to knowingly keeping a dangerous animal on property without proper confinement. She was fined $127.50.
