WASHINGTON - The McCreedy Home has a confirmed outbreak of COVID-19, the Washington County Hospital and Clinics confirmed Tuesday morning.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), an outbreak is defined as having more than three residents test positive for the virus. Those who have tested positive in the nursing home have received medical treatment and are recovering in isolation, according to a news release from the hospital.
The McCreedy Home has implemented a number of safety precautions since the outbreak of the virus, according to the release. Staff are continuing to meet with personnel from the IDPH daily to ensure all precautionary strategies are in place to prevent the spread.
Visitors are still restricted, but according to the news release contact is encouraged:
'Though visitors are restricted from our facilities, family members and friends are encouraged to reach out to long-term care residents and/or hospitalized patients to provide emotional support. Family members or friends are welcome to reach residents via phone, text, video call, or email. For assistance to connect with loved ones call McCreedy Home Nurses Station at 863-3958, or Inpatient Unit Nurses Station at 863-3942.”
