COVID-19 workload forces immunization cancellation

MT. PLEASANT - The Henry County Public Health Department will not be holding its weekly immunization clinics Nov. 10 through Nov. 12.
The department is currently facing staffing shortages due to tasks related to COVID-19 cases including contact tracing.
With cases rising in the community, the department also asks residents to continue taking safety precautions to limit the spread of the virus.
'Now more than ever, we must continue to take personal responsibility to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Because even though not all of us risk a severe case of the virus, we all risk getting the virus and spreading it to others - maybe without realizing we're sick,” the department said in a statement.
The department asks community members to continue observing social distance and staying six feet away from others when possible, wearing a mask in public when around others, consistently washing hands and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and staying home when feeling sick.
The department reminds community members that the virus spreads easily across short distances. Limiting instances of being within short distances of others and taking the necessary precautions when within proximity of others can help reduce spread.
'These small actions will make a big difference. We all need to work together to protect the health of Henry County,” the statement said.
