Crash kills Mt. Pleasant pair

Driver David Lynn Hanna, 45, and his passenger Martha Elizabeth Wilson, 40, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A single-vehicle accident early this morning in West Burlington killed a pair of Mt. Pleasant residents.

Driver David Lynn Hanna, 45, and his passenger Martha Elizabeth Wilson, 40, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Burlington police report said that Hanna was driving his eastbound 1996 Dodge pickup on Highway 34 when he lost control on the Broadway Street overpass at about 12:40 a.m. today. The truck hit a guard rail just past the bridge, rolled and landed on its top in the westbound lanes of Highway 34.

Wilson was ejected into the center median of the highway. Hanna remained seat belted in the vehicle.

West Burlington police were assisted at the scene by Burlington police, the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office, West Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Fire Department, the Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
