Community 1st Credit Union is scheduled to begin construction of a new Fairfield branch in 2013.
The new building will remain at the same location at 2501 W. Burlington Ave., and replace the current building.
In 2006, the Community 1st Fairfield branch, formerly known as Jefferson County Credit Union, joined the Community 1st family.
?We have experienced continued growth, and the new building will allow us to better serve our growing membership,? stated corporate communications specialist Dana Brown in a press release announcing the construction plans.
?Because of our long time loyal members and an increase in new membership, we have outgrown our current facility,? President/CEO Philip Van Mersbergen said. ?We are committed to our Fairfield members and the new facility is proof of that commitment.?
The Community 1st Fairfield branch will continue to offer a full-range of financial services.
Community 1st Credit Union operates branches in Albia, Amana, Bloomfield, Cedar Rapids, Centerville, Chariton, Fairfield, Grinnell, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Pella and Washington. The 76-year-old credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with more than $399 million in assets serving more than 47,000 members. It is headquartered in Ottumwa, and employs more than 150 people.
