Warner Engineering Associates, Inc., the engineering firm for the Iris Street project, is hoping that paving can begin on the final stretch of the project next week (week of June 8).
The project began in the spring of 2014, but wet weather for most of the summer of 2014 prevented the project from being completed. The remaining portion of the project is basically from the railroad tracks near the Monroe Street intersection southward to East Washington Street.
Fairly dry weather last week allowed DeLong Construction to install all of the remaining sub-drain and begin last Friday placing the engineering fabric.
Cole Construction is placing the granular sub-base and plays to have the sub-base completed by this Wednesday, weather permitting.
Shipley Contracting, the general contractor for the project, will begin trimming the sub-base on Wednesday and working toward paving a week from today.
Jones Contracting will be following behind Shipley to place all driveway approaches and later the trail along the west side of Iris Street.
This week, Shipley is working on the railroad approach on the south side of the railroad tracks and pouring the trail to tie into the railroad crossing on the north and south sides of the tracks.
Weather permitting, seeding on the north side of the railroad tracks also will be completed this week.
