Emergency crews responded to a medical emergency call for a construction worker at Federation Bank Tuesday morning.
Police Chief Jim Lester said the injured person was “alert and communicating” when he was loaded onto a stretcher and transported to the county hospital.
Because the individual was outside of the building on the third story, crews had to use a fire department ladder truck to bring him to the ground. Lester said the scaffolding stairs were too steep to move the stretcher without risk to the individual and crew.
The building, on the corner of Main Street and Iowa Avenue, is owned by Federation Bank. Bank Executive Vice President Leisha Linge said the construction contractors were replacing aging bricks on the building, which was constructed in 1912.
