Many members of the Mt. Pleasant community came to support the Mt. Pleasant Christian School on Saturday. The school held its annual auction to raise funds for school expenses.
Beginning at 9:02 a.m. and going well into the evening, the all-day affair had people bidding on a variety of items. More than 100 items were auctioned for the event, including a gift certificate for a whole hog donated by David Shadle and a four-drawer custom nightstand made and donated by Sleepy Hollow Custom Furniture in New London.
Local businesses and community members made donations for the auction.
“It’s going great,” Mt. Pleasant Christian School fundraising coordinator Deb Denly said. “We’ve had a great turnout, and we just wanted to say thank you to everyone that bought, auctioned, baked, cooked, carried, served or helped make the auction a success.”
All of the proceeds from the auction go toward the school’s expenses, such as Building maintenance and special projects. The annual auction is its biggest fundraiser of the year.
As of Monday at 3 p.m. organizers did not have a figure of how much was raised.
