Organizers say over 300 people braved the cold at the Kalona Historical Village Saturday morning for an Easter Egg Hunt, with 5,000 eggs waiting to be found.
“Many years ago, the Kalona Optimist Club had an Easter Egg Hunt at the Kalona Park, (and) I always had fond memories of that,” said Nancy Roth, Managing Director and event coordinator for the Kalona Historical Village. “I wanted to have some community events here at the Village and thought that this sounded fun. With help of my best friend Kathy Spenner we really enjoy putting on events that bring people to the Village, especially the younger community and the Easter Egg Hunt was a perfect fit.”
Roth said she heard a lot of positive feedback throughout the morning, the ninth egg hunt hosted at the historical Village.
Sponsors provided food and entertainment throughout the morning, including free hot dogs, chips and cookies, a bounce house and pony rides, while free will donations were gathered to fund next year’s hunt.
