The petition to incorporate Cypress Villages subdivision has been temporarily withdrawn while developers seek closure to the question of annexation.
The petition had been on Wednesday?s agenda for the state?s City Development Board; however, at that time, developers asked to withdraw the petition, board administrator Steve McCann said. He explained the subdivision needs to complete the annexation process ? receive formal denials from Fairfield and Maharishi Vedic City because the development is within 2 miles of both cities ? before the board can consider the petition for incorporation.
Because those requests have been made and neither city has provided an answer, developer Dan Walker said an application for involuntary annexation is being prepared. He?s hoping the request will be dismissed at the state level, and the development can resubmit its petition for incorporation.
Incorporation is one avenue developers are pursuing to secure financing. Walker also has gone to the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors to request tax increment financing and been turned away.
