Traffic makes its way across the recently opened railroad crossing on North D. Street. Stephen Pedrick of French-Reneker-Associates announced the reopening Thursday. It is now a quiet zone crossing with a 2-feet wide median running approximately 100 feet north and south of the tracks. When quiet zone construction is complete, each crossing will have a median creating a barrier to traffic when trains come through town. North B Street is closed to traffic at the crossing while crews complete construction. Pedrick said B Street will likely reopen Tuesday or Wednesday. Construction crews will close the Court Street crossing next week. French-Reneker officials said quiet zones construction will likely be complete in early October.
