David Keith Corey, 73, of Delmar, Iowa, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at WestWing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.

David Keith Corey, 73, of Delmar, Iowa, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at WestWing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.
A memorial service celebrating David?s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, at Delmar United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:15 a.m., to 10:15 a.m., at Delmar United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
David Keith Corey was born on August 22, 1941, in San Jose, California, to Keith Lee and Lois Perry (Holston) Corey. He grew up in Long Beach, California and then moved to Oklahoma where he graduated from Muskogee High School in 1959. He later lived in Texas and Montana before returning to California. He married Joanne Carol Schmidt on November 17, 1967, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. To this union one child was born: Darlene.
David?s working career began in Victorville, California where he owned and operated JB Print Shop from 1969 to 1977. He continued working as a printer for Mackay Iowa Envelopes in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa from 1979 to 1984. He then became a locksmith and the owner of Corey Lock and Key in Mt. Pleasant for 25 years, retiring in 2007. He moved to Delmar, Iowa shortly after retiring to be closer to family.
David was a member of the Delmar United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and fishing, especially deep-sea fishing.
Those left to honor David?s memory include his wife, Joanne Corey of Delmar, IA; a daughter, Darlene (Perry) Lamp of Charlotte, IA; and 3 grandchildren, Beth, Garrett and Holly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Glenda Valenzuela.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department.
