Deadline to file for property tax credit set
Low-income elderly and disabled residents have until Sept. 30 to file for a property tax credit.

Anyone 65 or older and any disabled adult with a total household income of $20,741 or less is eligible to apply at the Jefferson County Treasurer?s Office for the credit.
The credit is divided into six tiers based on income, with those earning less than $10,684.99 eligible for a 100 percent credit and those earning between $18,227 to $20,740.99 eligible for a 25 percent credit.
Eligible residents must re-file each year. Jefferson County Treasurer Terri Kness said roughly 90 individuals have applied so far this year.
