The 13th Washington Community Schools and YMCA of Washington County Demon Dash fun run is set for Saturday, May 8.
Washington YMCA Branch Director Teri Hartzler said that there are two options for event participants.
“There’s a four-mile run/walk that runs by each of the Washington community schools,” Hartzler said. “It’s just a fun run.”
A second option is a one-mile obstacle run through the streets around Washington High School.
“People can run in one or both,” Hartzler said.
Registration is at 8 a.m. at Washington High School. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Registration fee is $25 for adults, $15 for students and $60 for a family of four and $10 for each additional family member.
“The registration includes the race, a T-shirt and breakfast from the Washington High School PTO group,” Hartzler said. “The PTO always puts on an excellent breakfast.”
Hartzler said that the event traditionally brings out about 150 participants, while there have been some years where there have been upward of 200 runners.
A portion of the Demon Dash proceeds goes to funding a PTO scholarship for a Washington senior.
The remainder of the proceeds are divided among each school’s physical education programs and YMCA youth education programs.
Washington State Bank has been the title sponsor every year of the Demon Dash.
