Dennis W. Kemp

Dennis W. Kemp, 72, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

According to his wishes, the body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Kemp was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Fairfield, the son of Warren and Louise Culbertson Kemp.

He attended Parsons College in Fairfield, University of Iowa in Iowa City and University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

He loved his life in Dallas, Texas. He played trumpet for the Dallas Jazz Orchestra.

He enjoyed woodworking and skydiving

He moved to Mount Pleasant in 2002, where he worked at Mount Pleasant Walmart as a greeter.

Survivors include his children, Sabra Lyons of California, Rob Kemp of Texas and Angela Whitten of Texas; seven grandchildren;  and one sister, Sherry Dailey of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
