Moving a business to a new location can often lose customers. Not so for Dr. Sergey Floryanovich and his dental practice.
There were a few factors that went into the decision to relocate from the Square to their current address at 1051 West Madison Avenue.
'I think the biggest reason was to expand the practice,” Floryanovich said. 'We were able to join two practices together to expand our patient base and our staff.”
Dr. Floryanovich was able to purchase Dr. Karen McFarland's practice when she retired.
'Joining two practices together, two pools of patients was a little bit different because we want to serve all of them in the best way,” Dr. Floryanovich said. 'We are trying to give the best dental care that is possible.”
His practice, Dental Care on the Square, was at the southwest corner of Marion Ave and Washington for 10 years. And the previous tenant was there 36 years.
The business was limited by several things when it was on the Square. Among those were office space and parking.
'Here we have a single standing building that allows us to expand if we need to,” Dr. Floryanovich said.
The parent corporation is still Dental Care on the Square but the practice is operating under Washington Dental Care. There was a lot involved with maintaining both names.
'It was doable, let's put it that way,” Dr. Floryanovich said. 'There are some things that we would like to have and now have the availability to add them.”
The change in location and the addition of the other practice have created a lot of positives for the business.
'I don't know that I can name just one,” Dr. Floryanovich said. 'There has been a lot of benefits.”
Patients are any doctor's biggest assets and the acquisition of Dr. McFarland's provides a solid base.
With the current building the business has it's own parking lot.
'When we were on the Square, our parking could be taken at any time,” the doctor said.
That was especially troubling for older patients who would have to park far away and walk. The new building with its spacious parking lot alleviates that problem.
The most difficult thing was the move itself. Transporting equipment, records and incidentals is never easy.
'It was definitely different, but I would not say I was nervous about it,” Dr. Floryanovich said. 'I was sure to plan everything ahead of time. I really thought through about how I am going to do it.”
It will be a year in the new location soon. They started a week after Labor Day of 2018.
'It took us about seven months to get settled in,” the doctor said. 'I brought a lot of technology from my practice. I feel we have dental equipment that we need to serve our patients in the best possible way.”
It just takes some time to put everything the way it is supposed to be. By April, they were set.
'We are so pleased to be here,” Dr. Floryanovich said. 'We have great patients. We have a great staff. I have two hygienists, two assistants and an office manager now. Everything is working out beautifully. If my patients are happy, then I am happy.”
