Deputies arrest three individuals, investigate pickup-deer mishap
Henry County Sheriff?s deputies made three arrests and investigated a pickup-deer accident last weekend.
Following a traffic stop on May 1, near the intersection of 260th Street and U.S. Highway 34, the driver of the vehicle, Robert Wilkerson, 32, of Iowa City, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses.

Henry County Sheriff?s deputies made three arrests and investigated a pickup-deer accident last weekend.
Following a traffic stop on May 1, near the intersection of 260th Street and U.S. Highway 34, the driver of the vehicle, Robert Wilkerson, 32, of Iowa City, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
Wilkerson was charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor; driving under suspension, a simple misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; providing false identification, a simple misdemeanor; speed, a simple misdemeanor; failure to maintain registration plate, a simple misdemeanor; and unauthorized use of emergency vehicle lighting equipment, a simple misdemeanor.
The sheriff?s office was assisted at the scene by the New London Police Department and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
In a traffic stop on April 30, in the 2200 grid of U.S. Highway 34, Brandon Scheitlin, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with two offenses. Scheitlin was charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense, a serious misdemeanor; and speeding, a simple misdemeanor.
Deputies received a complaint on April 30, of a vehicle causing damage to the roadway in the 2700 grid of 115th Street. A detailed description of the driver and vehicle was given to deputies.
The vehicle was located in the 100 block of East Center Street, in Winfield. Jerome P. Watson, 22, of Winfield, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Watson was arrested for operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor; and fifth-degree criminal mischief, a simple misdemeanor.
The pickup-deer accident occurred on May 1, in the 1500 grid of Franklin Avenue. Marcus Jones, 19, of Mt. Pleasant, was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 north on Franklin Avenue when a deer stepped into the roadway.
The deer collided with the vehicle, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage. No injuries were reported at the scene.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
