Henry County Sheriff deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident and a report of suspicious activity last weekend.
The sheriff?s office was notified on July 23 of a two-vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Main and Chestnut streets, in New London.
An investigation by deputies determined that Leslie Bench Jr., 46, of New London, was traveling westbound on Main Street on his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a car pulled out in front of him.
Aimee Goldmeyer, 41, also of New London, was driving her 2004 Acura and did not see the approaching motorcycle as she attempted to turn eastbound onto Main Street.
Damage to the vehicles was estimated at approximately $8,000. Only minor injuries were reported. Goldmeyer was issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign/yield right of way.
On July 22, the sheriff?s office was notified of suspicious activity around an unoccupied residence in the 300 block of South Fourth Street, in Rome. An investigation resulted in David Beebe, 30, of Mt. Pleasant, being charged with trespassing, a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
