Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff?s Office investigated a pair of accidents on Nov. 25.
The first accident was a three-vehicle, chain-reaction collision at the intersection of Goodyear Road and 235th Street.
According to the accident report, all three vehicles were traveling south on Goodyear Road and stopped at the stop sign at 235th Street.
The last vehicle in line, a 2005 Chrysler, driven by Katrina Bain, of New London, rear-ended the second vehicle. That caused the second vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet, driven by Hanna Duncan, of Salem, to collide with the first vehicle, a 2000 Ford, driven by Caleb Akey, of Mt. Pleasant.
Damage to all vehicles was minor. No injuries were reported and Bain was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
The second accident was a single-vehicle mishap at mile marker 244 on U.S. Highway 34.
An investigation revealed that Leah Matteson, of Burlington, had been traveling east in her 2002 Toyota when she struck a deer. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000. No injuries were reported.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
