Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff?s Office responded to two accidents in recent days.
On June 14 at approximately 12:17 a.m., deputies were summoned to an accident in the 200 block of North Elm Street in New London. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 1999 Ford Ranger, operated by Nathan Hester, of Mt. Pleasant, was driving erratically and struck a 1995 Chevrolet truck operated by Zachary Sloan, of Mt. Pleasant.
Hester was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor. No injuries were reported.
The sheriff?s office received a report on June 9 of a single vehicle versus deer accident in the 1500 grid of Racine Avenue.
Investigation revealed that a 2012 Chrysler Town and County van, operated by Nathan Woodsmall, of Winfield, was traveling south on Racine Avenue when his vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
