Deputies investigate two accidents
Two single-vehicle accidents were reported July 27 to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The first accident was reported at 6:18 a.m. The sheriff?s office received an E-911 call stating a vehicle was in the ditch on its side near the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and 220th Street.

Two single-vehicle accidents were reported July 27 to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The first accident was reported at 6:18 a.m. The sheriff?s office received an E-911 call stating a vehicle was in the ditch on its side near the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and 220th Street.
An investigation determined that Drew Massner, 20, Mediapolis, had fallen asleep and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle, a 2012 Volkswagen CC-Sport, sustained disabling damage with an estimated repair cost of $7,500.
Massner was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
A vehicle-deer accident was reported to the sheriff?s office at 11:53 p.m. July 27. The accident happened near the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and Henry/Des Moines Avenue near New London.
Deputies investigating the accident learned that Amanda Brooks, Burlington, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 34 in a 2007 Kia. A deer ran in front of Brooks and her vehicle. Brooks? vehicle struck the deer in the front left-quarter panel/bumper area. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was unable to be driven away from the scene.
