Deputies issue citations following accidents
Two accidents early last week were investigated by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The office received a report of a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 22, at the intersection of Highway 78 and U.S. Highway 218. Drivers of the vehicles were Nathaniel John Thomson, of Columbia, Mo., and Maria De Jesus Porto, of Mt. Pleasant.

Two accidents early last week were investigated by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The office received a report of a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 22, at the intersection of Highway 78 and U.S. Highway 218. Drivers of the vehicles were Nathaniel John Thomson, of Columbia, Mo., and Maria De Jesus Porto, of Mt. Pleasant.
Following an investigation, it was learned that De Jesus Porto was driving without a valid driver?s license. She was cited for driving without a valid driver?s license and failure to yield to oncoming traffic while entering a highway.
The Iowa State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
A vehicle rollover in the 2500 grid of 130th Street was reported Aug. 21.
An investigation revealed that Frances Allen Morgan, of Winfield, was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Morgan was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol-first offense and failure to maintain control.
The Iowa State Patrol assisted in the investigation. Winfield First Responders were first on the scene and secured the crash site.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
