Deputies make arrest, investigate accident

Henry County Sheriff?s deputies made an arrest following a traffic stop and investigated an accident recently.

On May 25, a county deputy stopped a 1998 Pontiac for having a headlight out in the 1800 block of West Washington Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Following an investigation, it was found that Rylee Christine Proper of Stockport was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Proper was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail, and being held on $1,735 bond.

Deputies investigated a minor traffic accident May 18 near the intersection of 235th Street and Blackhawk Lane near Mt. Pleasant.

An investigation revealed that Jerry Dwight Jordan of Burlington was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram westbound on 235th Street where he rear-ended a 2011 Ford Edge, operated by Megan Nicole Coleman of Mt. Pleasant. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Jordan was cited for failing to provide proof of financial liability and failing to stop in an assured, clear distance.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
