Deputies make four arrests on Saturday
Henry County Sheriff?s deputies had a busy day Saturday, making four arrests and filing charges against another individual.
A report was received at 4:31 a.m., Jan. 30, of a wrong-way driver driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on Highway 34 near mile marker 226. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 234, still going eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Henry County Sheriff?s deputies had a busy day Saturday, making four arrests and filing charges against another individual.
A report was received at 4:31 a.m., Jan. 30, of a wrong-way driver driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on Highway 34 near mile marker 226. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 234, still going eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop, continuing traveling in the wrong direction. After a short while, the vehicle was brought to a stop near mile marker 237.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Miguel Martinez-Soto, 26, of Ottumwa. Martinez-Soto was arrested and charged with operation while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor; eluding, a serious misdemeanor; no driver?s license, a simple misdemeanor; open container, a simple misdemeanor; violating one-way direction of travel, simple misdemeanor; and no insurance, simple misdemeanor.
Also arrested at the scene was Jose Perez-Achoa, 38, of Bloomfield. Perez-Achoa was charged with public intoxication, simple misdemeanor; and open container, simple misdemeanor.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department assisted at the scene.
Deputies also responded at 12:11 a.m., Jan. 30, to the 2200 grid of Dakota Avenue to a report of a vehicle of driving and shooting firearms from the vehicle. The vehicle was located near Old Highway 34 and White Oak Road.
Jerome Farrier, 20, of Wayland, was charged with manner of conveyance, simple misdemeanor; and hunting by artificial light, simple misdemeanor. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources assisted at the scene.
Daniel Zielstorf, 39, of Brighton, was arrested at 1:34 a.m., Jan. 30, and charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; and no insurance, simple misdemeanor.
Zielstorf?s arrest came after a traffic stop at the 1000 grid of Benton Avenue. Henry County Sheriff?s Office deputies assisted the Washington County Sheriff?s Office at the scene.
The final arrest came at 2:36 a.m., Jan. 30, at the intersection of Highway 78 and Benton Avenue. Deputies responded to a report of an intoxicated female who was lost. Michelle McCarty, 41, of Washington, was arrested and charged with public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
