Deputies make two arrests following traffic stops
Henry County Sheriff deputies recently arrested two people following a pair of traffic stops.
Deputies stopped a 1985 Chevrolet Sept. 30 on Washington Street, near Hy-Vee, in Mt. Pleasant. The driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Crawford, 43, of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested for driving while suspended.

Henry County Sheriff deputies recently arrested two people following a pair of traffic stops.
Deputies stopped a 1985 Chevrolet Sept. 30 on Washington Street, near Hy-Vee, in Mt. Pleasant. The driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Crawford, 43, of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested for driving while suspended.
The passenger in the truck, Colton Gallup, 23, of Mt. Pleasant, fled on foot into the wooded area near the Mt. Pleasant Department of Corrections.
Gallup was apprehended later while trying to leave the area. He was found in possession of methamphetamine, prescription medications and drug paraphernalia. Gallup was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony; possession of a controlled II substance, a Class D felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Gallup also was wanted for three other arrest warrants from Henry, Jefferson and Des Moines counties. He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail on a $20,600 bond.
Sheriff?s deputies also conducted a traffic stop Sept. 29 on U.S. Highway 34 near the Quincy Avenue intersection for a speeding violation. Upon investigation, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Michael Bruce, 25, of North Liberty, was charged with driving under suspension, a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
