Des Moines inmate on the run
DES MOINES (AP) ? A man who?s been serving time for the hit-and-run slaying of an Iowa Air National Guardsman is still running free.
Prisons spokesman Fred Scaletta said in an email today that 27-year-old Orlando Rodriguez was still at large. Rodriguez was listed as escaped after he didn?t return to the Fort Des Moines work release facility early Sunday morning.

DES MOINES (AP) ? A man who?s been serving time for the hit-and-run slaying of an Iowa Air National Guardsman is still running free.
Prisons spokesman Fred Scaletta said in an email today that 27-year-old Orlando Rodriguez was still at large. Rodriguez was listed as escaped after he didn?t return to the Fort Des Moines work release facility early Sunday morning.
In September 2009 Orlando Rodriguez and his brother Santos Rodriguez stole $27 worth of gasoline from a Des Moines convenience store and sped away.
Their truck struck and killed 49-year-old Bruce Mundy. The 30-year member of the Iowa Air National Guard was riding his motorcycle home from work.
Santos Rodriguez also was sentenced to prison.
