DES MOINES (AP) ? Des Moines has opened its first dog park, but owners must buy permits before they can let their pets frolic in the new area.
The Des Moines Register reports that the 8.5 acre dog park is within Ewing Park, on the city?s southeast side.

DES MOINES (AP) ? Des Moines has opened its first dog park, but owners must buy permits before they can let their pets frolic in the new area.
The Des Moines Register reports that the 8.5 acre dog park is within Ewing Park, on the city?s southeast side.
Those who want to bring their dog to the park must first buy a permit, costing $10 per dog for the remainder of this year and $20 for next year. They also must complete an application and provide dog license information and proof of a rabies vaccination.
Permits are available at City Hall, and city staff will be at the park Saturday and on Aug. 27.
