Revstone Industries LLC announced Wednesday its acquisition of the Dexter Foundry from Dexter Apache Holdings Inc.
The company will operate as part of Revstone?s Cast Metals Group under the name Revstone Castings Fairfield.
All the employees who were part of the casting business at the Dexter Foundry were offered employment, and existing leadership was retained, said Pete Borum, director of communications for Revstone.
The foundry is the second to join the Revstone family of companies in the past year, after Revstone purchased the 250,000-square-foot shell mold gray iron foundry in Vassar, Mich., from Grede Holdings LLC in December 2009.
Borum explained the two plants use different casting processes and have different customers. The Vassar foundry makes shell-mold gray iron castings, and the Fairfield foundry manufactures gray and ductile iron green sand castings. Revstone requires both types of processes to continue its strategy of customer satification and growth in its target markets.
