After several months of negotiations, the Dexter Foundry in Fairfield has been sold to Revstone LLC, a global company with executive offices in Lexington, Ky., Detroit, Mich., New York and the Netherlands, with manufacturing facilities across the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
The foundry was sold by Dexter Apache Holdings Inc., which continues to own Dexter Laundry, Fairfield?s largest manufacturing employer.
The employees of Dexter Foundry met with Revstone representatives this morning at the Best Western Fairfield Inn, and were in the process of individually accepting the new employer?s offers to retain their positions.
Workers said they would possibly be going back to work as early as tonight.
During the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce?s Manufacturers Luncheon in October, Dexter Laundry president Andy Kretz said 2010 ?has been a really nice turnaround year? for the Dexter Foundry ?from what?s been kind of a rough time.?
Kretz said 15 to 20 employees were added this year. In April, the foundry had 180 employees.
