Don I. Stukerjurgen, of rural Salem, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., and a Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. that ...

Don I. Stukerjurgen, of rural Salem, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., and a Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton with the Rev. Bruce DeRammelaere as Celebrant. Burial will be at St. John?s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his memory to St. John?s Catholic Church in Houghton or the Houghton Knights of Columbus. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schmitzlynkfuneral home.com. The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born Feb. 1, 1940, in the home that he has lived in his entire life. His parents were Ben and Cecelia (Moeller) Stukerjurgen.
He was a graduate of St. John?s High School and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton. He also served in the Iowa National Guard.
He loved to go to car races, tractor pulls and play Euchre. He also loved to bowl.
He is survived by his siblings Thelma (Sylvester) Kruse of Hillsboro, Ron (Carol) Stukerjurgen, of Houghton, Justine (Ray) Conrad of Tempe, Ariz., Agatha Rudy of Solon, Leroy (Carrol) Stukerjurgen of Sun City, Ariz., and Lucy Damhorst of East Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Omer Stukerjurgen.
