Dorothy Marie ?Dot? Johnson, 88, Winfield, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehab Center in Winfield.
Funeral services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield with the Rev. Dottie Halverson officiating. Burial will follow at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the First Presbyterian Church following the burial.
Memorials have been established for the benefit of the Winfield First Responders and the First Presbyterian Church.
The daughter of George W. and Hilda White Gale, she was born on Jan. 19, 1926, in Norfolk, Va. She married Dale R. Johnson on Feb. 2, 1946. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Bridgewater High School in Norfolk, Va. She worked as a store clerk for 40 years at the grocery store in Winfield. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ruth Circle and the Amitie Club in Winfield.
She enjoyed taking drives, watching TV, crocheting, baking, flowers and gardening.
She was survived by two sons, David (Gayle) Johnson of Mystic and Duane (Sharon) Johnson of Winfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; and a brother, Wade Gale.
