FAIRFIELD – Susie Drish has been re-elected to the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, and Joe Ledger is set to join the board at the end of this year.
Drish, a Democrat, and Ledger, a Republican, were the top two vote-getters in the three-way race to fill two seats on the board of supervisors. Drish, an incumbent, received the most votes with 4,196 (36 percent), with Ledger just behind at 4,066. Republican incumbent Dee Sandquist came in third with 3,361 votes (29 percent).
Voters could select two of the three candidates, since there were two open seats. A large number of voters chose only to vote for one candidate or skip the race entirely, with the unofficial results showing 5,165 undervotes.
Drish won election to the board of supervisors in 2020, so she will be entering her second four-year term. Sandquist will be exiting the board after having served two terms. Ledger will be joining the board for the first time after spending 49 years working as a farmer as well as a lobbyist for Farm Bureau both in Des Moines and in Washington, D.C.
