Driver attempts to flee scene following accident

WASHINGTON - A driver attempted to flee the scene after hitting another vehicle on Highway 218 Wednesday.

At approximately 9:25 p.m., Micah Olson, of Washington, was driving a 2008 Kia Optima in the fast line. Olson attempted to pass a 2011 Ford Escape traveling in the slow lane and driven by Rhonda Lintz of Kalona.

Lintz attempted a left-hand turn across the fast lane, causing the cars to collide.

Olson's vehicle rolled into the east ditch.

According to the accident report filed by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Lintz told Olson not to call the police then left the scene of the accident southbound. Officers later found Lintz approximately seven miles south of the accident where she was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated, first offense.

Two minor injuries were reported, but both refused medical attention at the scene.
